Maybe now, I won't be so apprehensive about having adobe products on my machine.

Nothing is more aggrivating than having your application interrupted while you are working on something important!

sometimes it isn't even the right time to ask me if it is OK to update. now that I have vented my frustration, again, I'd like to thank the individual who shared that. I like how you have presented your information with excellent detail.

There is no corresponding Adobe entry in the registry Current Version\Run or even the startup folder to indicate windows start up entries running the updater software.Like me, if you are also annoyed with Adobe auto-updater popping up and freezing the application you can completely disable the feature in the latest version of Adobe Acrobat reader 8.1, just follow the steps below to disable Adobe updater: This doesn't work for the Adobe CS5, so here is a simple way to deactivate it if you have CS5: 1. Open Windows dir:\Users\username\App Data\Local\Adobe\AAMUpdater\1.0\Adobe Updater using Notepad. Foxit Cheers go to :\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe now here you will get a folder called updater just delete this folder and you are done you need not to do any thing for this now it will not download any update automaticly Nothing is more aggrivating than having your application interrupted while you are working on something important!

Is there any way to disable the update feature without internet access? In the Export Registry File dialog box, choose a location and type a name for the backup file, and then click Save. Locate and select the HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Current Version\Run\ key. Right-click on update Mgr, choose Delete and click Yes. I use to love them, but lately the whole suite has become bloated and cumbersome.

When the "Adode Updater" Tray Icon appears, RUN task Manager and find "Adode ARM. Please check your Internet setting or firewall." And I only get an option to "Cancel" - no preferences button! I have been using adobe products for over 13 years.
